Ripley County Takes Hand Washing Education On the Road

Ripley County Health Department literally took
"Hand Washing Education" on the road: The Health Department participated in
Ripley County Agriculture Day on October 5, 2005 at the Ripley County
Park/Fair Grounds. The event is held annually for every third grader in
Ripley County (500+/-). Twenty -two agencies from Ripley County participate
for the day long event.
Each agency makes a 10 minute presentation (22)
times throughout the day to groups of 20+/- 3rd graders. This was an
excellent opportunity to promote Hand washing education to the 3rd grade
students--who will in turn--educate EVERYBODY!
The mobile hand wash sink was purchased with BT
funds in an effort to "Blitz" the County with Hand washing information to
help prevent the spread of "Communicable Diseases", specifically the
flu--and even more importantly--the Avian flu Pandemic). These
presentations are open to any community groups that are interested. The sink
will also be utilized in any mass vaccination clinics real or
simulated) that are held. Needless to say "a Good Time" was had by all.
